THE RETURN OF THE BEACHCOMBERS | Will we finally see it?

As October approaches, so does the 50th anniversary, of an incredibly important part of not only television history, but the Canadian identity, that being the 50th anniversary of the original premier of “The Beachcombers” on Canadian television. I have a very personal connection with the series. For around six years now I have been in-and-out researching and obsessing over this iconic series. For those who are unfamiliar, the Beachcombers follows Nick Adonodas (played by Bruno Gerusi) and his partner Jesse Jim (Pat John), who work as beachcombers, scouring the seas and coasts of Gibsons, Vancouver looking for stray logs and salvage. Their main competition is Relic (Robert Clothier), a rough and rouge grump always trying to put one-over on the two and steal their jobs. On dry-land is Molly who owns The Reach , a restaurant on the pier, where our main heroes live. Often stories revolve around everyday life in Gibsons, and or adventures that Nick and Jesse face in the open waters. It'

The Beachcombers (was supposed to be) On DVD (In Germany)

The Beachcombers is an incredibly iconic Canadian TV series, but sadly a very hard to find one. Sadly only around a total of 20-or-so episodes of the British Colombian TV series are available publicly (and by publicly, I mean un-official YouTube uploads). Sadly it looks like we may NEVER get a official and/or digital release of the series, but back in 2017 it looked like there was going to be a release in of all places Germany. The German Title-Card for the series. The Beachcombers was released in Germany under the title Strandpiraten , and the series was very successful, almost all the episodes of the original series were dubbed in Germany. Considering its success it would only be natural that the series was going to be released on DVD? Enter PIDAX, a German DVD distribution company (think Criterion Collection but German). Whatever Happened to the Arthur Animation Cels?

Animating by Cels or celluloids is a format from long ago. The hand-painted process is a classic staple in Animation history. Little do people know that the classic children's series Arthur was animated in the Cel inking process. A grand total of 85 25-minute episodes were animated with cels by Cinar Animation in Montreal Canada. One question I've always had was what happened to the hand painted animated cels from the show? I have tried to find the answer to this question for years but I have never found a definite answer. For this article I have compiled the most likely answers to the question to "Where could the Cels Be?" In Storage at DHX Media Currently, Cinar animation is under the name/branding of DHX. Cinar was originally an independent  animation company from 1976 to 2004, until it was bought-out by Nelvana Animation founder Michael Hirsh and was re-named and re-branded as "Cookie Jar Media". A Look at the Props from the THEODORE TUGBOAT TV Series!

For anyone who grew up in the late 90's and early 2000's the name Theodore Tugboat should ring a bell (or whistle in this case). The Canadian children's television series based in Halifax Harbour was an amazing feat of live action television, spanning 130 15-minute episodes narrated by Haligonian and lead of the Mammas & Pappas , Denny Doherty. The series was a massive success, airing all around the world.  One amazing feature of this series was the use of radio controlled model boats, which featured anthropomorphic features such as moving eyes and interchangeable faces, and the best part is you can see all these models on display! I had the amazing opportunity to visit the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, where you can find 15 of the original models from the television series as well as the original set on display!
